You can take the man out of the guerrilla but you can't take the guerrilla out of the man

It looks like the Eritreans just can't get along with anybody. In its brief 15 year existence, Eritrea has clashed with Yemen and fought an incomprehensibly stupid and destructive war with Ethiopia.

Now, the Eritrean regime is trying to picking a fight with Djibouti, a country that traditionally gets along with its neighbors.

Note: Michaela Wrong's excellent I Didn't Do It For You: How the World Betrayed a Small African Nation is a fascinating historical study of just why the Eritrean regime is so paranoid.

I think you are oversimplifying things.

His fears are substantiated.

Here is the US trying to manipulate the already completed UN border decision.

Here is an example of Bush Admin. warped reasoning of arming Ethiopia with tax payers by letting it purchase massive amount of armaments for North Korea, breaking its own rule and breaking UN sanctions. Which the UN seems to be happy about keeping quite while whining and trying to block Zimbabwes' armed shipment from China that is not breaking any rules.

Here is Assistant secretary of state Jendayi Frazer being caught lying about US's planning and invasion of Somalia with Ethiopia six months ahead of the event.

Here is also about the manufactured crisis between Djibouti and Eritrea that no one seems to have picked.

"A military source said French forces based in Djibouti had carried out a reconnaissance on Thursday at the government’s request but had not been able to confirm an incursion."

Hopefully this gives you a clearer picture of exactly what is going on.
